5 Common Questions About
Being a Surrogate

To qualify as a surrogate with Conceptual Options, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Age: Between 21 and 39 years old.

  • Health: Maintain a Body Mass Index (BMI) under 30 and be in good overall health.

  • Reproductive History: Have had at least one previous successful pregnancy without complications.

  • Residency: Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.

These requirements help ensure the safety and well-being of both the surrogate and the baby throughout the pregnancy.

The surrogacy journey with Conceptual Options involves several key steps:

  1. Application: Submit an application to assess initial eligibility.

  2. Screening: Undergo comprehensive medical and psychological evaluations.

  3. Matching: Collaborate with the agency to find intended parents whose expectations align with yours.

  4. Legal Agreements: Establish legal contracts outlining the rights and responsibilities of all parties involved.

  5. Medical Procedures: Participate in the IVF process, including embryo transfer and prenatal care, leading up to the birth of the child.

Each step is designed to support and protect the interests of both the surrogate and the intended parents throughout the surrogacy journey.

Surrogates receive comprehensive compensation packages that include:

  • Base Compensation: A predetermined amount for the surrogacy journey.

  • Additional Allowances: Coverage for maternity clothing, travel expenses, and other related costs.

  • Support Services: Access to counseling, support groups, and a dedicated case manager to assist throughout the process.

These provisions ensure that surrogates are well-supported emotionally, physically, and financially.

Matching is a collaborative process that takes into account the preferences and expectations of both surrogates and intended parents. Factors considered include:

  • Personal Beliefs and Values: Ensuring alignment on key issues.

  • Geographical Location: Facilitating convenient communication and travel arrangements.

  • Desired Level of Involvement: Determining how much interaction both parties wish to have during and after the pregnancy.

This thoughtful matching process aims to foster a harmonious and supportive relationship throughout the surrogacy journey.

Legal agreements are established prior to the embryo transfer to outline the rights and responsibilities of both surrogates and intended parents. These contracts cover aspects such as:

  • Parental Rights: Clarifying that the intended parents will have legal custody of the child upon birth.

  • Medical Decisions: Defining who is responsible for making decisions during the pregnancy.

  • Compensation Details: Specifying the financial arrangements agreed upon.

These legal frameworks provide security and clarity for all parties involved.

By addressing these common questions, Conceptual Options aims to provide prospective surrogates with the information needed to make informed and confident decisions about their surrogacy journey.

More about:

We like to consider Surrogate Screening one of our top priorities at Conceptual Options. Not only do Surrogates have to pass through our tough Surrogate Requirements, but they will also talk with our in-house Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who will evaluate the potential Surrogate Mother and help determine whether Surrogacy is the right fit for them. One of our Client Relations Managers will also discuss what level of contact the potential Surrogate applicant is comfortable with, whether she is comfortable with carrying multiple babies or just one, and whether her goals align with the Intended Parents.

One of the fantastic services we provide is full-time 24/7 Surrogate support from our staff. This helps put both Parent’ and Surrogate’s minds at ease during the entire Surrogacy process. We understand the need for psychological support even after the Surrogate has finished our program. By staying in contact before, during, and after the Surrogacy process and keeping up with the mental health of all parties involved, we believe that we will create a more enjoyable and healthy experience for everyone.
